In today’s modern world, most of us spend too much time sitting down.
We sit down to travel to work, sit at a desk all day, sit down again on the way home, and then laze on the sofa all evening watching TV.
All of this sitting is bad for us, causing:
- Issues with our posture, making back pain more likely
- High blood pressure
- Cardiovascular disease
Stand up to sitting down!
Instead of spending all day sitting, try to stand more. Standing burns extra calories through movement and fidgeting, both of which are more likely when standing as opposed to sitting.
DNAFit Tip – If you use public transport to get to work, get off one stop earlier and walk the remaining distance. Another option is a standing desk at work – or if this is not possible, try to get up and get a drink every hour, standing for about 5 minutes or so as you enjoy your beverage.
